(No Homework)
Recently some educators advanced the proposition that students no longer be required to do homework. These educators believe that students can earn extra grades if they do the homework but they would not be penalized if they failed to perform their homework assignment.
The proposition is ridiculous. Our primary educational system is one of our most precious assets, and, if anything, we should be attempting to provide more and better education rather than detracting from it.
Homework helps teach our youth self discipline and time management skills. It also helps reinforce concepts and principles learned in school. Numerous studies have indicated that people retain more information with repetition.
Eliminating required homework from our schools is a bad idea, and the proponents of this crazy proposition should do their homework so they would learn the multiple benefits of the homework requirement in our schools.
