(Leonardo da Vinci)
One of the greatest intellects to have graced this earth is best known for his artistic masterpieces, including “The Last Supper” and the “Mona Lisa.”
But there is much more to this genius of a man. He was also world renown as an architect, musician, engineer, philosopher, physicist, chemist, geologist, scientist, and inventor.
He was the first person to have built a flying machine. He designed and built a horse-drawn tank with rotating blades on the front, rear, and sides, which literally mowed down the enemies. He designed and built a 12-barrel machine gun and a steam-powered cannon that propelled a 79 lb. projectile one-half mile. He invented the roller bearing and a rolling mill which produced sheet metal. His accomplishments also include inventing scissors, an air conditioning system and work on a vehicle powered through differential gears.
What is truly amazing about Leonardo da Vinci is that his visions of a plane, air conditioning, roller bearings, steam power, and engine gears occurred over 550 years ago -- that’s right -- when Christopher Columbus was discovering America.
