(Human Intellect)
When you think of your own existence, you might say to yourself how lucky you are to have been here when the internet and cell phones became household items or when we landed a man on the moon or, for some of us older folks, television, then color television, and cable.
But if you ever think you’re really smart and need a dose of humility, pick up a text like Archaeology - Who Knew What When.
Recently a research team from South Africa discovered that humans had learned to heat and treat stones as toolmakers more than 70,000 years ago. These tools were heated by fire and then shaped into the final tool product with another stone.
We live in the 21st century, and despite tons of education I would not have a clue how to do this even after having been told. It’s literally amazing to think that humans 70,000 years ago had the intellect to discover this on their own.
I guess we aren’t as smart as we think we are.
