(Joe Manchin - Financial Crisis)

We are presently in the middle of the worst financial crisis this country has ever experienced since the Great Depression. Large insurance companies like AIG have been allowed to extract money from each of us for insurance protection without having meaningful regulations to control their greed. Most of us have lost considerable savings and pension monies which were earned by hard work and designed to support us when we retire. And how many more years will we be paying the bailout money our governments are giving these insurance and financial companies.

     Why did this happen?

You need look no further than our Governor. Three years ago Governor Manchin sold all of your rights to properly regulate these insurance companies for the sum of $50 million. He took away each voter’s right to require these greedy companies to appear in a court of law when they were caught cheating you by denying insurance coverage when you most needed it. Unbelievably he didn’t even require an accounting to make sure the $50 million was paid.

Manchin also tried to create a bond issue with investments in Wall Street. Thank heavens you were all wise enough to vote against his investment scheme in Wall Street. If he would have been successful, he may have changed our state motto to “Wild & Bankrupt West Virginia.”

Governor Manchin only cares about his own agenda -- catering to these dishonest and greedy insurance companies who have hurt our life savings and pensions so that they will support his election efforts.

On November 4, vote for Weeks for Governor and tell Manchin he can move to Wall Street with his buddies.
