WKKX EDITORIAL NO. 96

(Joe Manchin - Disgrace)

Joe Manchin has caused disgrace to West Virginia:

     (1) He was caught using state funds to move his personal yacht to West Virginia.

     (2) He insulted and demeaned the hardworking state employees by telling them to buy their families’ clothing at Gabriel’s.

     (3) He spent your tax money to have Christmas parties with his cronies and $10,000 poker tables, and he went over budget by $2 million to refurbish his personal living quarters.

     (4) He has failed to commit proper funds to improve State Route 2.

     (5) He has done little to nothing to help Wheeling-Pittsburgh and Weirton steel companies.

     (6) His family failed to accept and acknowledge that his own daughter obtained a bogus degree thereby bringing disgrace and ridicule to West Virginia University. All he needed to say was whether he went to the graduation ceremony or not -- Didn’t he have a graduation picture of his daughter in cap and gown with him? Instead he hid from the scandal resulting in turmoil in our university and good people losing their jobs.

     (7) He is responsible for the Wheeling Tunnel fiasco and still hasn’t provided us with a proper explanation as to why we haven’t had full access to the tunnel for about one year.

Manchin is a slick talker who will tell you whatever he thinks you want to hear, but look around you and ask yourself what has Manchin actually done for the Northern Panhandle or you. The answer is nothing.

You owe it to your family and fellow citizens to send a message to Charleston that we will not tolerate Manchin’s arrogance any longer.

Manchin will probably win, but you can send a powerful message to him by either not voting for him or voting for Russ Weeks for Governor.
